Questions

If the answer you need is not here, support is a real ticket with a real reply, in English or French.

Does Standkeep file my annual return for me?

No, and it never will. Standkeep tells you what is due, what it requires and which portal it goes to. You file it. Nothing in the product logs into a government service on your behalf.

Do I have to give it my corporation key or my CRA sign-in?

No. There is no field anywhere for a credential, and a test fails the build if a column that could hold one is ever added. Standkeep works entirely from facts you state about the corporation.

Is this legal or tax advice?

No. Standkeep is an informational tool. It is not a lender, broker, lawyer, accountant or licensed advisor. It states deadlines and cites the sources they come from; interpreting them for your situation is a professional's job, and where a corporation's structure is unusual Standkeep says so and routes you to one.

Does it calculate how much tax I owe?

No. It computes dates and never amounts. It will tell you the day the balance is due; what the balance is comes from your accountant or your return.

Who is it for?

Small Canadian corporations — the sole-director, few-shareholder kind where nobody's job is watching the filing calendar. It covers federal CBCA corporations and those incorporated anywhere in Canada: all ten provinces and all three territories.

What about provincial corporations?

Every province and territory. Each corporation gets its own registry filing — Ontario's initial and annual returns, Quebec's updating declarations, British Columbia's annual report, Nova Scotia's annual statement, and the annual returns of Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut — together with its register review and its annual meeting where the Act sets one. Every rule is cited to the Act, its regulation and the registry, and where a jurisdiction sets no deadline Standkeep says so instead of inventing one. Standkeep also records extra-provincial registrations of a federal corporation, because those carry their own obligations — and it correctly declines to invent an Ontario annual return for a federal corporation registered there.

Where do the deadlines come from?

Each one is a versioned rule carrying a government source URL, a citation and the date that wording came into force. It must also record the date a person last checked it, or state the open question where a source is ambiguous — a rule with neither fails validation and cannot be shipped. You can read the whole set, open questions included, before you sign up.

What if a deadline is wrong?

Tell support and it becomes a ticket. Where a government source is genuinely ambiguous, Standkeep records the open question in the rule itself and shows it to you rather than picking a date and hoping.

How will I be reminded?

By email, several times before each deadline rather than once, and through a calendar feed you can subscribe to. The mobile app can also send push notifications on the same ladder — but the email is the reminder, and it is sent whether or not a notification gets through.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes — iOS and Android, free on the App Store and Google Play, showing the same dashboard and calendar in English or French, able to record the events that some deadlines wait on, and able to send push notifications for the same reminder ladder. A notification never replaces the email: the email is the reminder and is sent whether or not a notification gets through.

Where is my data stored?

In the Canada (Central) region — the database, the document vault and the application that serves them. Some processing does leave the country: the Security page names exactly what and why, instead of leaving you to guess.

Can I get my data out?

Yes, whenever you like, as one export covering the organisation's records and the things you personally wrote. Deleting the account is a button in the product, not a request you have to make to us.

What happens when the trial ends?

Reminders pause and editing becomes read-only. Nothing is deleted, and the export keeps working. Subscribing turns it all back on.

Is the French version complete?

Yes. English and French have had parity since the first commit — the app, the reminder emails, the generated documents and support. It is a bilingual product, not an English one with a translated brochure.

Can Standkeep issue my corporation's invoices?

Yes, if you want it to. It numbers them and the quotes that precede them, prints your logo, charges the taxes you choose, freezes what an issued invoice says, keeps copies in the vault if you ask, and adds up each reporting period’s invoices, and the supplier bills you record, for tax season. It emails an invoice to your client only when you press the button, with the PDF attached, and reminds them about an overdue one only if you turn reminders on. It does not decide which tax applies to a sale, collect a payment or file a return.
